Christmas is a time of hope and renewal, but above all it is a time of memories. For most, it's fond recollections of happy times spent in the embrace of family and friends. but record geeks don't have those kind of memories -- we were stuck in our rooms listening to music.
So our Christmas memories consist of the times and places that spawned our favorite tunes. For Mark Prindle, it's 1982 in Long Beach; Joe Hinchcliffe thinks of a long-ago 1964 summer on the Merseyside; Adam Smith conjures visions of King's Road in 1977; Jeff Turcotte glances fondly at postcards from Stockholm postmarked 1986; Jason Adams reminisces about a ranch in San Bernardino in 1971; Chris Willie Williams thinks back to Athens, Georgia in 1988; and for Steve Knowlton, it's always New Jersey in 1980.
Here's hoping this disc becomes a touchstone for the next generation of eggnog skippers. In the very likely case that doesn't happen, please accept the best wishes of the entire Web Reviewing Community for a joyous and peaceful New Year.
